• The Cargo Bike Movement Board has taken the difficult decision to wind up Cargo Bike Movement CIC due to our assessment of the funding landscape. The winding up process has begun now that Paths for All grant has concluded at the end of March 2025.

We decided that becoming a project of The Bike Station gives the best chance of continuing to deliver our vital work. The Bike Station will become the custodian of the Cargo Bike Movement vision and mission. We’re excited about the opportunities that this will create for cargo bike adoption in Edinburgh and beyond!

  • After thorough assessment, we considered the current funding landscape for 2025/2026 to be a high and unacceptable level of risk to the project not continuing.

This decision has been made so we can preserve Cargo Bike Movement’s mission and continue to support the growth of cargo bike use in Edinburgh and beyond.

  • Right now, we are in a transition period and await funding decisions for Cargo Bike Movement’s work. We are not loaning bikes out at the moment, but encourage you to keep an eye out for updates on this as we hear back about funding.

  • We’re excited to announce how this will look once we get more information from funders.

For updates you can also visit the Bike Station’s website at www.thebikestation.org.uk.

The Bike Station is actively leading on securing funding to continue Cargo Bike Movement’s activities. We hope that these will be integrated into existing The Bike Station activities.

Regardless of funding success, The Bike Station is committed to being the custodian of Cargo Bike Movement’s vision and mission.

  • We will continue to use Cargo Bike Movement platforms to post updates about fundraising as we find out.
