Meet the team
Whilst our volunteers are integral, we wouldn’t get anywhere without our noble steeds. So, here they are in all their two-wheeled glory…
‘The Tank’
Very fondly referred to as ‘The Tank’, this is another gem courtesy of Urban Arrow. Whilst the size can look intimidating to newer riders, as soon as they give it a go all worries are banished! Secure to ride with any cargo: apples, bread, or even fellow volunteers… (we obviously had to give it a go!)
Riese & Müller Twin 1
The Riese & Müller’s are good for all our heavy lifting. We are lucky to have custom made boxes from R-evoke, a youth project in Peebles.
The Riese & Müller bikes handle well, are are especially enjoyed by those used to flat bars.
Riese & Müller Twin 2
One for the heftier pick ups, this delightful Riese & Müller is another stable and easy ride with power assist battery power. This box was also made by R-evoke and we love how much we can get in it. When the power is turned up, steering this bike is no problem, regardless of how much we’re carrying.
The Urban Arrow
Sleek, reliable, and stable. This dream from Urban Arrow is a solid go-to for all our volunteers, and a great bike for beginners to use. With a dual battery set up, it can cover up to 100 miles, but given the short distances we cover, we can just whack up the power and glide up the cobbled hills!

The Town Bike
Fondly known as ‘The Old Codger’ or ‘The Town Bike’, our Kona Ute is a classy affair. We love packing the Ute’s panniers and basket with bouquets of flowers to add even more flare! The last peddler of the crew and, once it’s going, one feels as classy as this bike looks.
Lizzard King
This bike is one special ride! This e-bullitt from Larry vs Harry has been bought with funding from Energy Savings Trust, and joins the team specifically for loaning out to businesses and members of the public - just like you!

Raleigh Stride 2
The Raleigh is an ideal, and more affordable option (compared to an Urban Arrow, for example) for those looking to transport sprogs and dogs, or any other item. The shift gearing and electric assist offers a smooth ride for the Captain and their passengers. Also purchased with funding from Energy Savings Trust, this is available for long-term loans.
This bike is currently on a loan to one of Edinburgh’s fantastic community groups!
The Tern
We are grateful to be looking after this Tern from The SHRUB Coop to add to our team. The Tern is a great bike for people who are not so used to riding with cargo up front, and they are fast becoming the most popular ride for The School Run.
